We engaged Charles Roofing to re-roof our house in Weston ACT in November 2021. Bruce Charles proved to be not only a specialist roofer, but a master craftsman. Prior to commencing work, Bruce detailed the processes that would be involved and invited us to view a number of his previous projects. We also had the chance to talk to his existing clients who expressed a high degree of satisfaction with his work.

Bruce’s quote was not the cheapest we received, but two things convinced us to go with him. First was the obvious quality of the work we inspected and second was his professionalism. His global and national experience in roofing ensured that we had access to the most up-to-date knowledge in the field.  He explained to us the materials that he would be using and stressed the value of investing in high quality products, such as the Enviroseal roof sarking. Having scaffolding installed for the duration of the project allowed us to inspect the work as it progressed besides ensuring the safety of his team members. Bruce undertook the entire process of re-roofing our house and demonstrated diligence, precision and care to a degree rarely seen these days. The site was kept safe and clean, and our new terracotta roof is as aesthetically pleasing as it is functional.

Bruce and his team came to fix a leak that appeared after some of the summer storms.

Bruce walked me through, in great detail, what the issue was and how to fix it, with particular emphasis on the quality of the job, making sure I knew what was wrong and giving me options on a solution. Bruce gave me the option of keeping the old tiles or installing new ones, to try minimise costs. For the quotes for new tiles, Bruce went to the effort of trying to make it as cheap as possible by sourcing multiple suppliers with differing prices per tile/freight costs to try minimise the final cost.

I ended up going with new tiles. Bruce and his team completely replaced and disposed of the old, water damaged batons and old tiles. They installed new batons, an underlay to ensure a completely waterproofed roof, new tiles ridges, capping and pointing – having to cut tiles to shape to sit neatly in a valley on the roof.

Bruce and his team are very knowledgeable, very friendly and very professional. They completed the work quickly and efficiently. They even managed to get me an early appointment due to a cancellation which was much appreciated considering the amount of rain we’re getting this summer.

The section of roof now looks amazing and is water tight. I very much appreciate a quality job and can’t recommend Bruce and his team enough. I will definitely use them again for other sections of my roof and have recommended them to friends and family as our go-to roofer.

Ours is one of the most complicated roofs in Canberra to work on.  Most roofers drive past and won’t even stop.  Nothing is too hard for Bruce. The roof valleys have never looked smarter.  He comes when he says he will, he’s super fast, has exceptionally high standards and is very tidy, a true craftsman – don’t look any further if you want the best tiled roof!
